Three Herdsmen Held After Killing Of Ogun Farmer

Herdsmen On Revenge Mission Kill 12 Farmers, Burn Houses In Nasarawa

Three herdsmen who reportedly stabbed a farmer to death in his farm in Alabata, Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State have been apprehended by the police.

The herdsmen Muhammed Adamu, Saliu Ismail and Saliu Adamu stabbed Rafiu Sowemimo and left him in a pool of his blood after he challenged them for bringing their cattle into his farm and destroying his crops.

Sowemimo died before help could come his way, Ogun State Police Command spokesman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said of the incident that took place last weekend.

Noting what happened, he said “on receiving the information, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bashir Makama, directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of operations and that of the  State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID  to move to the scene and ensure that the culprits were brought to book.

“In compliance with the CP’s directive, the officers led other policemen to the scene and with information from the natives; they were able to arrest the three herders who perpetrated the heinous crime.

The police commissioner following a visit to condole the family of the deceased ordered the transfer of the suspects to the Homicide Section for further investigations.
