Governor Serikae Dickson is set to begin the process of unfolding his preferred successor with the inauguration of what has been termed as a Restoration Governorship Election Primary Committee on Monday, 19 August 2019.

Confusion had lately traced the political footprints of Governor Dickson last month after his political adviser revealed that the Restoration Caucus, which is the political group of the governor was considering three possible aspirants.

The three listed were Senator Douye Diri, the Senator representing Bayelsa Central District, the Secretary to the State Government Barr. Kemela Okara, and the Chief of Staff to the State Government, Rt. Hon Talford Ongolo.

However, Governor Dickson in an address to newly elected local government chairmen last Monday claimed that he had not anointed any one saying that if he had done it that the person would have been exposed to premature attacks.

He told the newly elected local government chairmen that he would soon reveal his choice as he pleaded with them to work along with him towards ensuring the aspirants success. According to him doing otherwise would lead to their own political suicide as he said that the possible emergence of Timi Alaibe would lead to their political obliteration.

Disclosing the governor’s readiness to unfold his aspirant, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the state commissioner for information and orientation in a statement at the weekend, said the committee has the central campaign organisation,  a special restoration campaign mobilization and contact committee.

Other features of the committee according to the statement are a campaign secretary, media and security committee with units across the eight local government areas in the state with constituency coordinators.

GWG gathered that ward coordinators will be appointed, including an advisory, women and youth mobilization teams.
