Bayelsa Monarchs Endorse Diri

Foremost traditional ruler, the Obenibe of Epie Kingdom, King Malla Sasime, and the Council of Chiefs, have endorsed the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Douye Diri and his running mate, Senator Lawrence Ewhrujakpo in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr, Fidelis Soriwei, quoted  King Sasime as having given the assurance while playing the host to  Governor Henry Seriake Dickson who was in  his palace to present the PDP flagbearer, Senator Diri and his running mate, Senator Ewhrudjakpor, to him and his kingdom on Saturday.

The Obenibe who commended Governor Dickson for his administration’s unparalleled achievements in the state assured the PDP flagbearer of the support of the Epie Kingdom in Yenagoa come November 16, 2019.

The King said that he decided to give his blessings to the PDP candidate  with the expectation that he would take over from Governor Dickson, sustain the enviable legacy of development set by the Administration and even surpass it in the interest of Bayelsa and indeed the Ijaw nation.

He said, “You have come to ask for my blessings; the blessings of the Epie Kingdom and that I will willingly give to you. And I will not give it to you for the fun of it.

“I will give it to you with all seriousness hoping that, you receiving the blessings will know the seriousness with which you are receiving it and the seriousness with which you are supposed to execute the purpose of the blessings.

“It is our prayer and hope that his successor will do better than him so today we will give you our blessings hoping that you will do better. You will give us more hope and progress and at the end of the day, not only Bayelsa  but the entire Ijaw nation will be proud of you.”

In his remarks, Governor Dickson, reaffirmed that the Senator Diri and Senator Ewhrudjakpor ticket of the PDP remained the only one with the capacity to guarantee continuity of his development agenda in the state.

He  expressed the confidence that the Diri/Ewhrujakpo ticket would ensure completion of the critical projects in the state capital and its environment which were stalled due to the economic recession that hit the country,

Governor Dickson reiterated that the Senator Douye Diri and Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpor Team represents competence, capacity, experience, stability, consolidation and security.

“The PDP is the only party that has engendered the level of development being witnessed in Bayelsa  since 1999 till date, unlike the opposition party that is coming to experiment in governance of the state.

In his remarks, the PDP Governorship flagbearer, Senator Douye Diri expressed the commitment that if elected, the government would take over all the projects to ensure their completion.

He noted that having been part of the Restoration Government, he and his running mate would also ensure the execution of the second fly over at Tombia-Etegwe round about, a project conceptualized by the Governor Dickson-led administration.
