The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Edo State has rejected what stakeholders on Thursday lamented as the high fees stipulated by the National Working Committee, NWC for forms to contest for party positions in the forthcoming congresses.

The NWC had stipulated N1 million for the form for chairman, N500, 000 for vice-chairman and secretary and N300,000 for other positions in the State Executive Committee, SEC.

The proposal it was gathered was rejected as a bar to genuine party members desirous of working for the good of the party

Party stakeholders including National Assembly members, local government party chairmen, senatorial leaders and members of the state executive committee, GWG learnt also appraised the situation in the state and resolved not to allow.

The meeting which was hosted by Chief Lucky Igbinedion had received words of encouragement from the state chairman, Chief Dan Orbih who appealed to party members to go about the campaigns in a dignified manner.

Against the background of the recent exit of Mr. Osagie Ize-Iyamu from the party, he warned that “we should be careful not to hand over these positions to those who will use them to negotiate their future exit.”

He emphasized that Character, Capacity and Integrity must guide our choice.

Observing the strange political times in Edo State he said:
“We are seeing those who have benefited most from this party shopping for excuses to justify their undignified exit. Our liberalism must be exercised with caution arising from the bitter lesson of political ingrates who are today casting aspersions on the Party”.

“No matter what they are saying Edo people will see them as cheap fair weather Politicians who will do anything to advance their selfish political interest.”

Among those in attendance were leaders of the three senatorial districts including, Chief Tom Ikimi, Sen Victor Oyofo, Sen Isa Braimah, Owere Dickson Imasogie, Barr Oni Edigin and members of the National Assembly elected from the party.
