Legacy PDP

In the midst of recent political upheaval within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), particularly concerning the support of the National Working Committee (NWC) for Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, a notable stance has emerged from the party’s legacy members: calm resolve.

Despite the NWC’s controversial support for Governor Obaseki, which majority of us viewed as undermining the constitutional provisions aimed at ensuring transparent, free, fair, and credible processes in selecting party flagbearers, legacy members have maintained a remarkable composure. Even as insults are hurled at them, they remain steadfast in their conviction that their input is indispensable.

The calmness exhibited by these legacy members poses a significant challenge to those in power. It signifies a deep-rooted understanding that their collective voice and influence can not be disregarded. While the political landscape may be tumultuous, their silence echoes a profound confidence in the triumph of justice and righteousness over manipulation and deceit.

The same PDP governor’s forum that clapped for the process is not running from river to mountain to beg legacy leaders and members for reconciliation and even offering what no one is soliciting for. Damagum is setting up a committee upon committees to reconcile Legacy PDP with the Edo Egyptians PDP, led by Godwin Obaseki.

While legacy members were cheated and taken for granted and calm and sleeping peacefully at home, Damagum, Bature, PDP Governors, Obaseki, and other cheaters are having their deserved sleepless nights, running from top to bottom over the same process they said “NOTHING DEY HAPPEN.” So what has happened?

Indeed, the legacy members’ steadfastness underscores a fundamental truth: that evil can not prevail over good. Their unwavering belief in the democratic process and their refusal to be swayed by external pressures serve as a beacon of hope for the party and the nation at large.

In essence, the calmness of the legacy members is not a sign of weakness but rather a display of strength. It is a silent assertion of their power and a reminder to those in authority that their decisions can not be imposed without consequence. Like I always say and assert that *”THE POWER OF THE PEOPLE IS GREATER THAN THE PEOPLE IN POWER.”*

As the political drama unfolds, one thing remains clear: the legacy members’ calm resolve is a force to be reckoned with. Their patience, determination, and unwavering faith in the democratic principles upon which the party was founded will ultimately prevail, ensuring that the voice of the people is heard and respected.
