A professor of the University of Abuja has been dismissed for the scandalous and inappropriate relationship with a female student that was uncovered during a sting operation by the police.

Three other lecturers were also sanctioned by the university for various offences. While another professor was dismissed for dishonesty two senior lecturers were downgraded for various infractions against the university’s code of conduct.

A statement by the university’s head of information and university relations, Dr. Habib Yakoob said the disciplinary actions followed the 85th Regular Meeting of the University’s Council on Wednesday, 11th and Thursday, 12th December, 2019 where the issues concerning the affected persons were discussed.

A female student of the university had last July accused a professor in the University’s department of Agriculture of sexually molesting her and demanding sexual favours to pass his exam. The lecturer was eventually nailed after a police sting operation caught him.
