Buhari Approves Suspension Of Charles Dokubo As Amnesty Coordinator

Prof. Charles Dokubo has been suspended from his position as coordinator of the Amnesty Programme, the presidency announced late on Friday.

The suspension was upon the recommendation of the National Security Adviser, Brig. Gen. Babagana Moguono, rtd. a statement issued by presidential media adviser, Mr. Femi Adesina disclosed.

In his place, a committee is to be set up to undertake a comprehensive review of the activities of the Amnesty Programme, the statement said.

“Part of the Committee’s task is to ensure that allocated resources are properly utilized in consonance with government’s objective of alleviating problems in the Niger Delta region, and stamping out corruption in the Amnesty Programme. 

“The President has also directed that the Caretaker Committee set up to review the programme should oversee the running of the programme henceforth, with a view to ensuring that government objectives are achieved.”
