Akure ‘Rapture’ Incident Stirs Mixed Opinion

Divided opinions have trailed the after midnight explosion that rocked Akure, the Ondo State capital in the wee hours of Saturday.

The explosion affected several buildings in the area and the resulting loud bang was heard in many parts of the state.

The explosion coming in the wake of the global lockdown arising from the Coronavirus pandemic immediately triggered speculations of rapture having happened.

Some others argued that the explosion was caused by asteroid that fell from the space, aligning their argument with the prediction of National Aeronautics and Space Administration that asteroid might fall on the earth in April.

That was especially fired by the depth of the crater the explosion caused along the Akure-Owo Road.

Reality, however, dawned after Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu during an of the scene, disclosed that a vehicle transporting explosives to a neighbouring state developed a fault and exploded.
