Two of the leading lights of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Akwa Ibom State have jointly refuted a report of their bickering for the 2023 governorship ticket of the party.

Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, Secretary to the APC’s National Caretaker Committee of the APC and Mr. Umana Okon Umana, Managing Director of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority, in a joint statement denounced the report of their bickering which they claimed to be wholly fictitious and without basis.

Akpanudoedehe and Umana both from Uyo Senatorial District are two of the names that have been repeatedly mentioned as aspirants for the 2023 governorship contest.

The governorship is expected to come from the Senatorial District following successive terms by governors from Ikot Ekpene and now Eket Senatorial Districts.

However, the argument for Uyo Senatorial District is also being countered by some who are asking for a fresh beginning in which the governorship would come from any of the three senatorial districts.

Akpanudoedehe and Umana in the joint statement issued by their media aides both dismissed as completely false and baseless a report published by The Post newspaper that the two chieftains of the APC are at each other’s throat over the 2023 governorship election in Akwa Ibom State.

Ata Etuk, SA Media to Senator Akpanudoedehe and Mr. Iboro Otongaran, SA Media to Umana Okon Umana said “the false report in the Uyo-based tabloid which has been publishing a series of fictitious stories about well-placed people in the state, Senator Akpanudoedehe and Mr Umana said the reason for bothering to comment on the baseless and political-vendetta report is just to make sure that unwary members of the public are not misled by a fictitious publication in a pay-to-play paper.

They have therefore advised members of the public to discountenance the said report which they characterize as “completely false and malicious in its entirety.”
