NUJ Flays Murder Of Nasarawa Journalist

The Nasarawa State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has condemned the brutal killing of its former treasurer, Mr. Benjamin Ekom by unknown gunmen

Mr. Ekom was killed on Monday, August 3, 2020 at his residence in Washo village, Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Area (LGA) of the state by unknown gunmen.

According to a statement issued by the NUJ chairman ,Comrade  Salihu Mohammed Alkali and  secretary, Sunday John, the union described the brutal killing of  innocent residents of the state by criminal elements as one too many.

“We  urge the government to take drastic and proactive measures  to protect lives and property in all nooks and crannies of the state.

“The leadership of the union urges the security agencies to fish out the killers of the former Treasurer of the union to face the law. We call on members of the public to expose criminal elements in their midst to rid the state of criminals.

The statement  commended  the efforts by the federal and state governments towards tackling insecurity, but, however, urged them to do more in ensuring that  lives and property of citizens are protected.

It therefore, condoled with the family and friends of the deceased and prayed God to  grant  him eternal rest.
