Ihekweazu Greets As Abayomi Goes On Isolation

Director –General, Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC), Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, has through his Twitter handle wished, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi speedy recovery from Covid-19 virus infection.

The commissioner who was declared infected of the virus by the state commissioner for Information, and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso on Monday,   declared that he has gone on 14 days self- isolation.

But Ihekweazu in a tweet commended the gallant manner the commissioner has been handling the issue of the virus in Lagos and wished him quick recovery from the global pandemic.

Ihekweazu twitted, “I wish my dear brother and colleague @ProfAkinAbayomi, a speedy recovery.

“Very grateful for your strong leadership of the #COVID-19 response in Lagos State.

“We will #keeppushing, and urge Nigerians to adhere to all public health and safety measures, so we can control this outbreak”.

The State Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, had on Monday, announced the development on his official Twitter handle, which was retweeted by the health commissioner.

“FLASH: The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, @ProfAkinAbayomi has tested POSITIVE to the Corona Virus … he is doing well no symptoms .. will begin 14 days self-isolation & home care immediately… continues to discharge his duty as Deputy Incident Commander, ” he wrote.
