Recaptured leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu must not be harmed while in the custody of the Department of State Services, his family charged the Federal Government in its first reaction to his capture.

The younger brother of the IPOB leader, Emmanuel Kanu, while speaking to newsmen in Umuahia, Abia State affirmed that Nnamdi Kanu was on the path of truth saying that he has not in any way committed any crime to deserve any prosecution or persecution.

He affirmed that Kanu was only demanding liberty for Biafrans, a liberty he said was the inalienable human right of the people which should not be trampled upon.

While cautioning the Federal Government to handle Nnamdi Kanu with caution, affirming that the eyes of the whole world were on how the Biafran activist is being treated.

“My brother (Kanu) has awoken the consciousness of Nigerians about the goings-on in the country.

“He stood for the truth, and Heaven is on the part of anyone standing for the truth. My brother committed no crime, and the whole world is watching,” Emmanuel added.

Meanwhile, there has been suspicion on how Kanu was extradited to Nigeria.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Kanu was repatriated to Nigeria on Sunday after two years on the run in continuation of his trial.

Nnamdi Kanu earlier in the day told the court where he was arraigned that he fled Nigeria because he was afraid that he would come in harms way because of the assault of Nigerian security services on his associates.
