Three Dead As Police Rescue Benue Commissioner’s Wife

Police operatives have executed no fewer than three suspected kidnappers during an operation to rescue the wife of Benue Commissioner for Land and Survey, Mrs. Ann Unenge.

It was gathered that three kidnappers were gunned down by the policemen while carrying out the operation in the early hours of Monday.

Mrs. Unenge was taken to police headquarters around 12: 45noon on Monday.

Many residents of the state were seen thronging to the Benue Police Command headquarters to see the bodies of the suspects.

It would be recalled that the wife of the commissioner was kidnapped by the gunmen around 6pm last Thursday in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

A relative of the commissioner had disclosed that Mrs. Ann was kidnapped by the assailants shortly after she returned from Daudu town, where she went to visit her parents.

It was gathered that the unknown gunmen took away a new model Toyota Highlander belonging to the commissioner’s wife.

The unknown gunmen fired gunshots into the air at the B. Division Traffic junction to scare away passersby before taking away the commissioner’s wife to an unknown destination.
