Gov Bagudu Appoints Wife To Top Govt Position

Kebbi governor sacks commissioners

Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu, has appointed his wife as the Patron of a new agency established by the state government.

The governor in a circular issued by the Secretary of the State Government, Babake Umar-Yauri, approved the establishment of a Taskforce on Drug Control.

The body is tasked with reviewing and proposing policies and programmes on drug and substance abuse.

A retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Umar Ambursa is the Chairman; while the wife of Governor Bagudu is the Patron

The Taskforce will recommend and support conferences, seminars and meetings aimed at preventing and reducing drug use.

The committee will also sponsor basic and advanced training in matters relating to addictions and encourage research and publications.

Members include representatives of the Police, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Control (NAFDAC), Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).

Others are officials from the ministries of justice, education, health, youth and sports development, women and social development.

The civil society, Christian and Muslim leadership, youth and student organisations, Gwandu, Argungu, Yauri and Zuru Emirates will also be represented.

Meanwhile in a news earlier reported by GWG, police personnel in Zamfara rescued two abducted students of the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, in Kebbi State.

“The girl who hailed from Wushishi LGA of Niger and a 17 year-old-boy, Faruk Buhari, from Wara in Ngaski LGA in Kebbi state were rescued from a nearby bush in Babbar Doka village of Dansadau emirate”.

The police commissioner said, “Our investigation revealed that the rescued victims were among the abducted students of the FGC Birnin Yauri, Kebbi state”.
