The revalidation of 71 Warri chiefs commenced on Thursday with ten of the 14 chiefs earmarked for the day being confirmed by the new Olu of Warri, His Royal Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III. However, in the most significant development of the first of the exercise, the suspended Ologbotsere of Warri, Chief Ayirimi Emami lost his position as traditional prime minister to the Iyatsere of Warri Kingdom, Chief Johnson Amatserunleghe.Under the new dispensation, Chief Amatserunleghe, would become the most senior chief in the cabinet of the Olu of Warri.

Chief Ayirimi Emami the suspended Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom had held the position of traditional prime minister under the immediate past Olu of Warri.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Chief Ayirimi Emami who is in court against the emergence of the new Olu of Warri is himself scheduled for his revalidation as Ologbotsere on Saturday when he is supposed to appear for his revalidation.

Ogiame Atuwatse walked majestically with accolades from his subjects on Thursday towards the venue at Ode-Itsekiri, the ancestral home of the Itsekiri in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State to commence the revalidation and confirmation.

He had earlier given notice that the process of the statutory 71 Warri chiefs would commence on Thursday.

A schedule of the activities obtained by  GreenWhiteGreen GWG shows that the process is to end next Thursday, September 9, 2021.

10 of the chiefs who are either temporarily or permanently outside Nigeria are to be revalidated through substituted means as may be approved by His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG gathered at the end of the exercise on the first day, that the Iyatsere of Warri Kingdom, Johnson Amatserunleghe was appointed the most senior chief and ‘traditional prime minister’ of the kingdom, a position hitherto held by Ayirimi Emami.

10 of the 14 scheduled for revalidation were confirmed and they include Gabriel Awala, Kofi Kartey, Robinson Ariyo, Dr. Roland Oritsejafor, Roli Oritsejafor, Edwin Olley, Solomon Arenyeka, Clement Maleghemi, Eugene Ikomi, Omolubi Newuwumi and Billy Besi Giwa respectively.

It is not known if Ayirimi Emami would present himself for revalidation given that he absented himself from the coronation of Ogiame Atuwatse III and rather attended the coronation of the emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nairi Bayero in Kano State which took place the same day.
