European Champions Cup history was on song on Tuesday after unfancied Moldovan club side, Sheriff Tiraspol making its first appearance in the competition defeated European giants, Real Madrid in the Bernabeu.

It was a very unpredicted encounter that saw the less fancied Moldovan club side sting Real Madrid with a first goal through Jarsubek Yakshiboev in the 25th minute.

The Moldovan side led into the second half when Real Madrid equalized through a Karim Benzema penalty in the 65th minute.

The visitors, however, took the shine completely out of the day’s matches from all other sides with an 89th minute blast by Sebastin Thill.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the Moldovan side was undefeated through 10 successive matches entering into the game on Tuesday.

The team had also before the Benzema penalty not conceded a goal in the last six matches.

Sheriff now sit comfortably on top of Real Madrid with six points from two matches while the many times champions remain at three points.

In other news on Tuesday night, first half goals from Steven Berghuis and Sebastien Haller gave Ajax a 2-0 win over Besiktas on Tuesday.

Victory helped to keep them perfect with two victories from two in UEFA Champions League Group C.

The same pair had bagged all the goals in their opening rout against Sporting Lisbon.

Côte d’Ivoire striker Haller, who scored four in Portugal, is now on five goals from two matches in the elite competition.

Shakhtar Donetsk and Inter Milan both got off the mark with their first point in Group D thanks to a 0-0 draw.
