Edo APC: How Does Obaseki Sleep When People Go To Bed Hungry?

The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC has faulted Governor Godwin Obaseki’s plans for a fifth-anniversary questioning how the governor can sleep when hundreds of citizens go to bed hungry on account of the government’s alleged failures.

Asserting that the administration has not achieved anything worth commissioning, the APC in a statement on Wednesday said the administration’s resort to a summit was indicative of failure in infrastructure and development objectives.

The statement by Victor Osehobo, the party’s Assistant State Publicity Secretary, while questioning the plans for a summit said:

“For  the APC, this annual carnival of sorts is too ridiculous to be sustained as Edo people can recall how the PDP government of Governor Obaseki held the charade for five whole years without any meaningful  suggestions on how to entrench safety and security of their lives, and restore the state, which has become more indebted since he took office.

“Governor Obaseki failed woefully in his first term and has began his second term of failure even before it took off having succeeded only in making empty promises in his hollow Make Edo Grounded Again (MEGA) manifesto, which he failed to even make mention of on the program of 2021 Alaghodaro summit.

“The Governor knows that his government has instead wrecked all sectors of our state life with no hope in sight, and in the next three years, he has no magic wand to turn things around for good. What explanation can Obaseki and his PDP government offer for failing to commission any of the failed private sector driven projects like the Benin Industrial Park, Benin Innovation Hub, Edo Refinery and Petrochemicals Company, the Gelegele Seaport, decisively tackle violent crimes on intrastate highways, despite the huge resources at their disposal?

How Can Obaseki Sleep With Edo People Going To Bed Hungry?

“How does Mr Obaseki sleep at night when he knows that due to the incompetence of his government, hundreds of Edo people go to bed with empty stomachs daily, including farmers who are languishing at home with skyrocketing food prices as their farms across the State have been taken by cows, bandits and kidnappers disguised as herdsmen?

“Moreover, the Obaseki government cannot point to any landmark project it conceptualized, started and completed in the last five years. All it can boast of is the mortgaging of the future of our state using his trademark MOUs with nothing to show them.

“What is expected of Mr. Obaseki and the fractured PDP government he leads at this point is for them to end their media campaigns, and social media orchestrations of achievements, apologize for their failure and allow Edo people to consider forgiving them for the pains their deceit has inflicted on the psyche of our state. This apology must include a vow to end the annual waste of tax payers monies”.
