Senator Patrick Osakwe’s Grass To Grace Story Ends At 73

Senator Patrick Osakwe who carved a grass to grace story in business and ultimately became the first senator to represent Delta North in the Fourth Republic has died at 73.

Osakwe died in London according to a post on Facebook made by a senior media aide of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Senator Osakwe first developed himself as a businessman through selling automobiles relying on the good credit he enjoyed from the big dealers in Lagos after the civil war. He eventually became a millionaire through his poll betting business, Flash Polls with headquarters in Benin.

He was indeed, half educated by the time he turned a millionaire in the early eighties, and eventually went to study Business Administration in the University of Benin as a mature student obtaining a first class degree.

He also entered into other areas of business and also established Flash Flamingoes Football Club in the eighties.

At the beginning of the Fourth Republic, he won the Senate seat for Delta North and served out a three term tenure. He was also one of the boisterous third term advocates during the Olusegun Obasanjo administration.

Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Media, Ossai Ovie Success, who announced the death on his verified Facebook page, confirmed that Senator Osakwe died in a London hospital 

“Senator Osakwe died in a London hospital this evening, 15th March, 2022 at the age of 73.

Patrick Enebeli Osakwe was a Nigerian senator who represented Delta North Senatorial District in Delta State. He became a member of the Nigerian Senate in 1999, and was re-elected in 2003 and 2007” he wrote.
