Gov Emmanuel’s Men Pick All Three Akwa Ibom PDP Senate Tickets

Lagos Guber:  PDP Suspends Chairman, Deputy For Directing Members To Vote Labour Party

Speaker of Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly Hon Aniekan Bassey , immediate past National Legal Adviser of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Barr Emmanuel Enoidem and former Commisioner for Economic Development Barr Ekong Sampson have won the three PDP Senate tickets in Akwa Ibom State according to the primaries conducted on Monday.

Bassey, emerged as candidate for Akwa Ibom Northeast Senatorial District (Uyo), Enoidem picked the party ticket for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District while Ekong Sampson emerged for Eket Senatorial district.

Enoidem who is the National Chairman of Maintain Peace Movement, (MPM) scored 329 votes. A breakdown of delegates in Ikot Ekpene comprised of Ika local government area 31, Ikot Ekpene 34, Abak 34, Ini 31, Essien Udim 34, Etim Ekpo 31, Oruk Anam 40, Obot Akara 31, Ukanafun 34 while Ikono local government area had 34 delegates.

Reacting to his victory , Enoidem said he was exceedingly happy and extended an olive branch to his opponents , stating that the PDP is a large family that is big enough to accommodate all.

“I’m going to treasure this for the rest of my life. I know I am going to the Senate because nobody who has ever gotten the PDP Senatorial ticket has ever lost and I am not going to break that protocol”, Enoidem assured.

At designated center in Onna, Sampson scored total 368 votes to win the PDP ticket for Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District while the member representing Eket Federal Constituency, Hon Patrick Ifon scored 1 vote, Francis Uduyok representing Ikot Abasi federal Constituency scored 11 votes

The exercise was conducted at Special Protection Unit of Nigeria Police Force Base 27 Onna local government area where the incumbent governor hails from.

Some of the aggrieved aspirants who boycotted the Senatorial primary across the districts were Dr Saviour Enyiekere, Hon Akan Eyo, Mr Odoro Edwin and Chief Inibehe Okori and Ephraim Inyangeyen because of the unresolved court matter over Ad-hoc delegates election held on April 30th.

But in an interview ,the state chairman of the party , Hon Aniekan Akpan described the conduct of the Senatorial primary as satisfactory and peaceful.

On the alleged court injunction over Ad-hoc delegates he said, “In AKwa Ibom state, we are working on the directive if National working Committee of the party and that ends it.

Akpan also said he was not aware of the killing on Sunday during the state and House of Representatives primaries in Ini local government area of the state.
