Ibadan Undergraduate Found Unconscious After Dropping Suicide Note

A teenage undergraduate, identified as Jamila Abu has reportedly gone missing after dropping a suicide note at home in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Jamila was said to have left her parents’ house in Ireakari Estate, along the Akala-Expressway, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday, July 6.

According to reports, her mother, simply identified as Mrs Abu, hinted that the victim complained of a headache in the morning before she (Mrs Abu) went to her shop.

Mrs Abu said when she returned home in the evening, she saw Jamila’s phone and a Suicide note on the table.

“Jamila is a quiet person who will never commit suicide because we provide all her needs.

“We waited for some hours and when we did not see her, we reported the incident to the police,” she added.

Subsequently, a church member of the victim, identified as Olawale Olaniyan, revealed that Jamila was found unconscious by an unknown passerby in the estate where they reside.

Olaniyan noted that the passerby, not aware that the victim was missing, started seeking people to identify her.

He said, “While the passerby was knocking on random doors, he knocked on the family’s door and fortunately, Jamila’s brother, a secondary school student, opened the door and identified his sister.

“Jamila’s mother immediately rushed down to the scene to identify her daughter as well. The family went back to the police to notify them that she had been found.

“Jamila was found lying on the floor unconscious with some scratches on her hands and her eyes opened, but she was not talking.”

The source stated that the female undergraduate was taken to a hospital in Ibadan, where she was admitted for treatment but no reason has been uncovered for the suicide note.

The state police spokesperson, Adewale Osifeso, who confirmed the incident, stated that investigation was launched into the case.

He promised that the outcome of police investigation would be made public.
