Sonia Ekweremadu: Family Kicks Against Lady’s Plan To Donate Kidney
Annastasia Olamma, a 24-year-old female skit maker, has claimed that her family opposes her intention to donate one of her kidneys to Sonia Ekweremadu, the daughter of Senator Ike Ekweremadu, a former Deputy President of the Senate.
After Sonia revealed she required a kidney donor since she had been diagnosed with the rare kidney condition FSGS Nephrotic Syndrome, Olamma had made the offer on Tuesday.
Sonia made the public appeal months after her parents were detained in the UK and accused by the UK Metropolitan Police of conspiring to enable the trip of another individual for organ harvesting.
Olamma responded by saying that she was willing to give her kidney for free in order to save Sonia.
I (Annastasia Michael Olamma) want to donate one of my kidney to Sonia Ekweremadu to save her life. I have made up my mind to do this to prove women can help women.
If any of her relatives mum, dad, and siblings, cannot give out their kidneys to save their Bloodline, Then i will donate my own to save Sonia and I demand nothing in return. I pray it matches with her own.
I am 24 years old ,I don’t take alcohol, and I believe my kidney is very healthy to donate. I have sent message to her email @helpsonialive@gmail.com and anticipate for her reply.
However, Olamma’s family members objected to her decision, to donate her kidney to Sonia Ekweremadu causing her to go on Facebook Live to beg them to let her go forward with it.
“Yes, my family members are against it. I expected that initially because when my dad got to know about it, he wasn’t cool with the idea. He was like ‘you want to go and kill yourself?’ My family, I know this thing might hurt you people but please I am begging you… I wish to save somebody’s life. Pray for me so that nothing will happen to me. Pray for me so that the whole thing will go successfully,” she said.
This is not the first time Olamma has made such a contentious move; on July 7, she expressed interest in marrying legendary Nollywood actor Kenneth ‘Aguba’ Jideofor.
Chibuzor Chinyere, the general overseer of Omega Power Ministry, reportedly gave assistance to Aguba, who was living on the streets (OPM)
