Kogi, Dangote War Over Obajana Cement Worsens As Govt Alleges Terror Plot

Dangote Obajana 100% ownership

The war of words between the Kogi State Government and the Dangote Group was deteriorating on Saturday after state officials accused the conglomerate of obliterating documents and planning a reign of terror to actualize its claim to the Obajana Cement Factory.

GWG.NG reports that the Kogi State Government and Dangote Cement have been at loggerheads over ownership of the Obajana Cement Factory with the allegation that the conglomerate did not pay any consideration in its purchase of the Cement Factory.

The Dangote Cement management has on the other hand rebuffed the assertions of the state government saying that the Obajana Cement factory is 100% owned by the company. The government has asked the company to bring forth documents to back its claim.

However, the tussle for the cement company was deteriorating on Saturday after the State Commissioner for finance, Mr Kingsley Fanwo alleged that the government was in possession of an audio recording of conversations among the company’s officials on a plot to instigate a reign of terror in the state.

In a statement made available to GWG.NG, Fanwo said:

“We have uncovered certain plans by the Dangote Group at a meeting held last night to cause chaos across the state as a counter-attack against the State Government’s decision to get its own legally supported equity from the Obajana Cement Company.

“The latest strategy stems from frustrations occasioned by  the failure of the Dangote Group to misinform the general public and its shareholders as the State Government has consistently and continuously presented the facts of the matter to the public.

“A top Management Staff of Dangote Group erroneously called a top Government official as the said meeting was going on to hatch their satanic plans against the Government and people of Kogi State.

“The call which came in at 10.06pm went on for 28 minutes, 12 seconds, detailing how the Dangote Group intends to doctor documents to prove they own the cement company, 100 per cent; how they intend to use the DSS and other security agencies to arrest top Government Officials on frivolous charges; how they intend to use the EFCC to arrest some Government officials in order to cow them; how they also intend to use the media to promote falsehood against the Government and people of Kogi State and sundry other satanic plans against the people and Government of our dear state,” the Kogi official said in an apparent escalation of the war of words with Dangote over ownership of the Obajana Cement factory.

Calls and text messages to a senior official of Dangote Group on the development did not get a response.
