The leadership of Labour Party is set to take a decision on the fate of Dr Doyin Okupe, Director-General of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council following his conviction on charges of money laundering by a court in Abuja on Monday.

Dr Tanko Yunusa, spokesman of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council speaking in an interview said the decision taken on Okupe will be applauded by the majority of Nigerians.

Yunusa who spoke in an interview on AIT’s Kakaaki programme monitored by GWG.ng, however, saw the conviction of Okupe as an attack from the old order that the Labour Party is aiming to overturn.

While saying that a decision on Okupe was imminent and be pleasing to the majority of Nigerians, he opened up on the nature of attack including spiritual being directed at the Labour Party.

He said:

“Our followers are convinced and they know that we are interested in building a new Nigeria and they also know that we are under attack politically, physically, spiritually and any other way that they can use to bring us down. Our followers are fully aware of this.

“We are aware that there will be attack on us because we have opened the gate from the old order to the new order, so that makes us a soft target for them. So, the thing is that the more they attack us, the more they make us popular.

“Our position will be in tandem with the party’s constitution and at the same time law and order.”
