8 Bandits Die As Troops Set Ambush In Kaduna

Troops of Operation Forest Sanity have neutralized eight bandits and seized six motorcycles during patrols in the Chikun/Birnin Gwari general areas of Kaduna State following an ambush.

The state government said the troops set up ambush positions at bandits’ crossing points in the Buruku/Birnin Gwari areas.

Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.

“The troops made contact with bandits, and neutralized eight, while recovering four motorcycles and three mobile phones in the first successful mission,” he said.

Aruwan said the troops then engaged the bandits in a second mission and recovered two motorcycles.

In a similar operation, troops neutralized two bandits during clearance patrols along the Sabon Birni-Maidaro-Dogon Dawa-Galadimawa-Kidandan-Fatika axis.

He said the troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, two magazines loaded with 52 rounds, six motorcycles and three mobile phones.

Besides the ambush, the troops also dislodged camps around Garke and Galadimawa in Giwa LGA, Kaduna State, recovering three dane guns, two magazines, some military uniforms and nine motorcycles.

He said Governor Nasir El-Rufai commended the troops’ bravery and resilience in the successful operations.

Meanwhile, the Niger Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it has secured the conviction of 84 motorists for various traffic offences through mobile courts in Suleja and Chanchaga local government areas of the state.

The Sector Commander in the state, Mr  Kumar Tsukwam, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Friday.
