Trump Arrested, Charged Over 34 Alleged Felonies

President Donald Trump has been released after being arrested and arraigned before a New York court in an unprecedented development in the political history of the United States.

GWG.ng reports that the immediate past president of the United States was arrested in Manhattan, New York, on Tuesday over his alleged role in the payment of hush money to a former adult movie actress, Stormy Daniels ahead of his 2016 election as president.  

As part of a controversial deal with prosecutors, Mr Trump who is the leading Republican presidential candidate for the 2024 election voluntarily surrendered himself to the authorities.

He was not handcuffed and was not subjected to a mug shot unlike any other person facing criminal charges.

It is the ordeal of President Trump represents the first time in United States political history that a serving or former president would be subjected to the rigours of a criminal trial after being arrested.

GWG.ng reports that President Richard Nixon who came near to a criminal trial over his role in the Watergate scandal was pardoned of all his possible crimes by his successor, President Gerald Ford, the only man who became president of America this century without facing the electorate since 1900 in an election as a running mate.
