Defamation Case: Trump Camp Gloats Over $121k Received From Stormy Daniels

Just hours after making his initial court appearance on Tuesday, April 4, in relation to hush money payments made to adult film star, Stormy Daniels, it has emerged that former US President Donald Trump, received a payment from Daniels totalling over $121,972 in legal fees.

It has been revealed that when Daniels sued Trump for defamation in 2018, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ordered her to reimburse Trump for the legal expenses he incurred.

The case, which was later thrown out, was based on a tweet from Trump that claimed Daniels had made false claims that she had been threatened in 2011 in connection with an alleged affair she had with the former president.

According to court filings, Daniels’ legal team contended that Trump’s fee requests were “unreasonable,” but the judge determined that they were “reasonable.”

As the case was dismissed, Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, was mandated to pay Trump’s legal bills. Daniels then appealed her case to the Supreme Court, but it was denied last year.

In a tweet posted in celebration of the news on Tuesday, Donald Trump Jr. said that this payment is “in addition to the nearly $500k she already owes him.”

Trump received congrats on the awarded money via Twitter from attorney Harmeet Dhillion, who heads one of the law companies that defended him in the defamation case.

On Tuesday, Trump entered a not guilty plea to 34 felony charges, including fabricating financial documents in relation to payments made to Daniels prior to the 2016 presidential election to prevent her from speaking out about an alleged affair with him.
