Civil rights activist Aisha Yesufu has said that there will be no retreat or surrender to the determination to retrieve what she Tuesday said was the mandate wrongfully vested on Asiwaju Bola Tinubu by the INEC saying that “our children will not be enslaved” to the power merchants that have held Nigeria captive since independence.

She spoke in a rousing address at the National Press Club, Washington D.C. amid protest from other Nigerians five minutes drive away at the White House.

GWG.ng reports that she spoke just as Information minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed also speaking in Washington to journalists sensitised them on the governrment’s position on the situation in Nigeria where he also accused Peter Obi of treason for his opposition to the declaration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as president.

In a rousing address at the National Press Club, Aisha Yesufu, a dogged supporter of Peter Obi said:

“We are citizens, the office of the Citizen is the highest office in the land, the office of the president is the highest political office in the land.

“We are citizens of our country. We came out, we voted. We did all that was supposed to have been done. Nigerian citizens did the needful but guess what happened? There are some people who think that Nigeria belongs to them and they tried to steal the mandate of the people. We must not allow those who think that they do not have any respect for our nation continue to steal from us again and again and again.

“They have given themselves the illusion of power but today, we have seen that indeed they have nothing other than thuggery, violence other than bloodshed. There is nothing that they have. The Nigerian people proved that. They said to us that our votes do not count and the citizens on the 2023 election decided to come together and participate in the process and you see what their participation did. It changed the trajectory.

“The illusion of power that they had given themselves and made themselves to believe that they own Nigeria for over six decades we had sat down doing nothing. Our parents allowed themselves to be enslaved.

“We have allowed ourselves to be enslaved, our children will not be enslaved. Our children will not be enslaved. We have a nation that they all can be proud of, that they can walk anywhere in the world and go along with their Green Passports and any other passport that they decide to add to it and be proud that they are Nigerians.

“We have rendered our own children stateless by our own silence. They are wondering all over the world, they are looking for countries that they can call their own when we have an amazing country that God has given us.

“A Lady went to vote and she was attacked, she went to the hospital and came back to vote, that is the Nigerian spirit.” Aisha Yesufu said in articulating her position against the declaration by INEC of Tinubu as president elect lamenting that some countries were willing to easily endorse the result.
