The Senate has scheduled the screening of two additional ministerial nominees made by  President Bola Tinubu for Tuesday, October 3, 2023 but has remained mum on the fate of the original nominee from Delta State, Ms Stella Okotete.

The news of the screening was made known on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 by Senate President Godswill Akpabio after he read out the names of the two nominees during the plenary session.

Recall that the President had during the Senate recess nominated the pair of Dr. Jamila Ibrahim and Ayodele Olawande as Minister of Youths and Minister of State for Youths respectively.

Meanwhile, the Senate President was mum on the nomination of Stella Okotete from Delta State following the suspension on her confirmation following what Senator Akpabio alleged as security considerations.

GWG.ng reports that no particular was, however, given as to the security consideration that stopped her confirmation.

Meanwhile, besides the haitus on the ministerial screening result on Ms Okotete, GWG.ng reports that the Senate on Tuesday confirmed the nomination of Dr Olayemi Cardoso as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

Cardoso was screened alongside four nominees for the positions of CBN Deputy Governors,  to steer affairs of the apex bank in the next five years.

The deputy governors include: Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro, Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Mr. Philip Ikeazor, and Dr. Bala M. Bello.
