Kano Pillars have been banned from registering new players for the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

The ban was necessitated following the failure of the club to pay the mandatory N11.8m to former goalkeeper, Bassey Akpan for breach of contract.

The Sai Masu Gida failed to meet the 21-day deadline given by the league body to resolve the contract dispute.

The NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi announced that the ban will not be lifted until both parties reach a compromise.

Kano Pillars will lock horns with Sunshine Stars in their matchday fixture on Saturday.

Abudulai Maikaba”s led side secured promotion to the top flight after finishing second in the Nigeria National League playoff.
