Napoli’s dynamic striker, Victor Osimhen, is making a promising return to full fitness after recoveriang from injury as the team braces for a crucial league encounter against Empoli this Sunday.

Despite uncertainties surrounding his availability for the upcoming game, Napoli’s official statement on Thursday confirmed that Osimhen has recommenced personalized training independently.

Following their recent Champions League clash with Union Berlin, Napoli returned to training at the SSCN Konami Training Center, gearing up for the 12th Serie A matchday against Empoli at the Maradona Stadium on Sunday at 12:30.

During the training session, the team divided into two groups. Players who played a significant role in the previous match underwent intensive drills, while the rest of the squad participated in a dynamic activation session featuring a circuit of posts and low obstacles.

The training continued with a focus on ball possession, physical conditioning, and finishing drills. Meanwhile, Osimhen engaged in targeted therapies and personalized exercises in the gym with the clash with Napoli’s cracker with Empoli in view.

Victor Osimhen returned to Italy on Wednesday after nearly two weeks in Nigeria, tending to personal matters. Since October 13, he has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury sustained in an international friendly against Saudi Arabia. His last impactful appearance for Napoli was on October 8, scoring in their 3-1 victory over Fiorentina.

His absence has prompted discussions about ongoing contract negotiations, with Meluso expressing confidence in reaching a positive resolution: “We have been in talks about his contract for months. Despite the negotiations taking time, we are confident in reaching a positive resolution.”

Despite recent setbacks, Osimhen secured the eighth position in this year’s Ballon d’Or rankings, ultimately claimed by Lionel Messi. Additionally, he stands nominated for the 2023 CAF Player of the Year Award, scheduled for presentation on December 11 in Morocco.
