It Was Hard To Refuse Saudi Offer — Osimhen

Victor Osimhen, the standout performer for Napoli during their historic Scudetto-winning season, recently shared insights into a substantial offer from Saudi Arabia that presented a challenging decision.

Osimhen, who scored 26 goals and provided five assists in 32 league games last season, revealed that Al-Hilal’s lucrative €200m offer tempted him but expressed his commitment to Napoli.

In an interview with John Obi Mikel on the ‘Obi One Podcast,’ Osimhen acknowledged the significant offer from Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the difficulty in turning it down. Despite the enticing financial proposal, Napoli’s desire to retain him played a crucial role in his decision-making.

Reflecting on the situation, Osimhen stated, “It was crazy… The more I said no, the more they increased the financial offer. It would have changed my life, they never gave up. But I said, no guys, I’m staying.”

When asked about his future in Europe, Osimhen affirmed his commitment to continuing his football career on the continent. He discussed the positive decision made in collaboration with Napoli, expressing that there’s more to football than financial considerations.

The conversation took a lighthearted turn from the Saudi offer when Mikel playfully suggested Osimhen joining Chelsea, to which Osimhen responded positively but reiterated the significance of broader career decisions beyond financial incentives.
