The Rivers State Police Command has taken decisive action against 13 officers, apprehending them for indecent dressing during patrol operations conducted by the Monitoring Unit across various areas. Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, affirmed that these arrests were part of an ongoing campaign to eradicate indecent dressing among command officers.

Furthermore, not only the arrested officers but also the heads of the Units or Divisions where they serve will be held vicariously liable. The arrested officers are in detention pending further investigation.

Besides the case of indecent dressing, CP Disu addressed the tragic killing of SP Bako Angbashim, the late Divisional Police Officer of Ahoada Police Division, by suspected Iceland cult members, reportedly led by Gift David, also known as 2Baba.

Disu assured the public during a radio program in Abuja that the case will not be overlooked, expressing gratitude for the public’s concern and actively engaging with stakeholders in Ahoada to enhance police-community relations.

Emphasizing his goal of ensuring friendly and effective police duties, Disu highlighted the pivotal role of collaboration and partnership between law enforcement agencies and the public.

Stressing the importance of trust and information-sharing, he outlined proactive security measures for the upcoming Yuletide season, reiterating his commitment to fostering a harmonious relationship between the police force and the community for maintaining peace and security during the festive period.
