The identified Israeli hostages mistakenly killed were Yotam Haim and Samer El-Talalqa, who were taken during Hamas’s October 7 attack. The name of the third hostage is being withheld upon the family’s request. Hamas’s October 7 attack resulted in the kidnapping of around 250 hostages, leading to 1,139 casualties. In response, Israel initiated a retaliatory war against the group, with more than 18,700 reported casualties according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
