Idahosa and Agbomhere

All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Edo State, Dennis Idahosa who was favoured by the controversial screening inspired by Senator Adams Oshiomhole has threatened fellow aspirant, Blessing Agbomhere with a law suit over fraud allegations made against him.

Idahosa has challenged Agbomhere to publicly produce evidence supporting allegations of the fraud he, Agbomhere said were supposedly committed by him or face the legal consequences.

GWG.ng reports that Agbomhere had issued a cautionary statement, advising the APC leadership against endorsing Hon Dennis Idahosa due to what he claimed to be a “criminal record,” asserting that such a move could lead to internal strife within the party in Edo State.

The statement also accused Idahosa of being indicted for fraud in 2015 during the tenure of then-Governor Adams Oshiomhole, resulting in his dismissal as Commissioner of Investment, Public/Private Partnership.

Dennis Idahosa is one of two aspirants cleared by the Prof Julius Ihonvbere-led committee appointed by the state caucus but whose report has been suspended by the national leadership of the party.

His campaign team led by Hon. Charity Amayaenvbo vehemently rejected the allegations and threatened legal action against Agbomhere and others involved in what they perceived as an attempt to tarnish the federal lawmaker’s reputation.

The statement from the Dennis Idahosa campaign said, “Our principal, RT Hon Dennis Idahosa who is a firm believer in the rule of law, has briefed his lawyer in the person of Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, CFR, to immediately commence legal processes against the said Mr Blessing Agbomhere and other persons involved in these false and mischievous allegations.”

It further clarified that Idahosa was never sacked as Commissioner but voluntarily resigned from the government. The team questioned the authenticity of the allegations and challenged Agbomhere to name the members of the administrative panel and specify when the report was submitted to the State Government.

The statement emphasized Idahosa’s unblemished record during his service as Commissioner under the leadership of National Leader Adam’s Oshiomhole. The team urged supporters to stay focused on securing the APC ticket and winning the Edo Governorship seat for the party. As legal proceedings loom, the unfolding drama adds a layer of intensity to the political landscape in Edo State.
