The notorious Abuja kidnapper, Saidu Abdulkadir, alias Dahiru Adamu, has been apprehended by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command following a fierce gun battle. FCT Police Commissioner Benneth Igwe revealed Abdulkadir’s capture during a press conference on Friday, where the suspect was also paraded.

The arrest comes after FCT Minister Nyesom Wike placed a N20 million bounty on Abdulkadir and his gang, notorious for terrorizing the Abuja region. According to Igwe, FCT Police operatives, attached to the Anti-kidnapping unit, raided two kidnappers’ camps located on the border of Nasarawa and Abuja, near Kuje area council, around 12 am on Thursday.

During the operation, the police successfully dismantled the camps and arrested Abdulkadir, identified as the gang leader and one of the prime suspects wanted for involvement in the kidnapping syndicate previously paraded by the Police Command on February 14, 2024.

Describing the intense encounter, Igwe stated that upon spotting the police operatives, the bandits opened fire, initiating a fierce gun battle. Despite the resistance, the police prevailed, ultimately rescuing Habu Yakubu and Isufu Abubakar, who had been abducted from Kwaita village via Pegi district of Kuje area council. Abdulkadir was apprehended during the operation.

Preliminary investigations revealed Abdulkadir’s involvement in orchestrating the kidnapping and subsequent murder of the district head of Ketti community in AMAC, Mr. Sunday Yahaya Zakwai. Igwe emphasized that efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining wanted suspects still at large, sending a stern warning to criminals operating within the FCT that there will be no sanctuary for them.
