Human rights activist and former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani, emphasized on Monday that Nigeria’s current economic struggles are not a result of divine punishment. Taking to his social media platform, he stressed that Nigeria possesses abundant natural resources that set it apart from other nations. S

ani’s remarks came in response to a tragic incident involving the loss of seven lives during a rush to purchase discounted rice offered by the Nigerian Customs Service.

The Nigerian Customs Service, located in Yaba, Lagos, recently sold rice at a reduced price, attracting a large crowd of eager buyers. Tragically, the overcrowding led to a stampede, claiming the lives of seven individuals, including Comfort Adebanjo, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, and six others.

In light of this unfortunate event, Shehu Sani reiterated his belief that Nigeria’s challenges stem not from divine retribution, but from the mismanagement of its abundant resources. He highlighted Nigeria’s vast natural wealth, including its numerous rivers and expansive arable land spanning 923,768 square kilometers, which present immense opportunities for agricultural development.

Furthermore, Sani highlighted Nigeria’s demographic advantage, noting the abundance of resilient men and fertile women, surpassing those of any other African nation. He emphasized Nigeria’s favorable climate, characterized by the absence of natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, or monsoons, making it highly conducive to agricultural activities.

Shehu Sani emphasized the need for a paradigm shift, advocating for proactive measures to effectively harness Nigeria’s abundant resources. Drawing parallels with countries like Thailand, Pakistan, or Brazil, he stressed the potential for Nigeria to achieve remarkable agricultural prosperity with proper management.

In his vision, Shehu Sani envisions Nigeria as a beacon of agricultural excellence, where abundant resources are utilized to enhance the livelihoods of its citizens. He called for concerted efforts to maximize Nigeria’s agricultural potential, transforming the nation into a haven for farming and fostering prosperity for all its inhabitants.

Sani’s message resonated with many Nigerians, who shared his sentiments about the need for effective resource management and agricultural development. Across social media platforms, citizens expressed their support for initiatives aimed at harnessing Nigeria’s vast potential and improving the lives of its people.

In conclusion, Shehu Sani’s remarks underscore the importance of leveraging Nigeria’s abundant resources to address economic challenges and foster sustainable development. By prioritizing effective resource management and agricultural advancement, Nigeria can chart a course towards prosperity and fulfill its promise as a land of opportunity and abundance.
