Shehu Sani, Reno Omokri Clash Over Abuja Warehouse Looting Incident

Senator Shehu Sani and Reno Omokri have clashed over the looting of food items and other essentials from an Abuja warehouse by unknown hoodlums.
Witnesses recounted the chaotic scene as youths descended on the warehouse in the Tasha area, making off with bags of maize and grain, raising concerns about the nation’s security and economic stability- GWG.ng reports.
Reacting swiftly to the looting of the warehouse, former Kaduna Central Senatorial District Senator, Shehu Sani, took to social media to sound the alarm, warning against dismissing the looting as mere criminality. He characterized it as a distressing indicator of underlying social discontent and economic hardship, cautioning against the potential for wider unrest if such grievances are not addressed.

However, his remarks drew sharp criticism from Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan now beleived to be a sympathiser of the Bola Tinubu administration who challenged the notion of Nigeria’s economic prosperity, particularly in relation to its oil wealth. Omokri argued that Nigeria’s oil resources have not translated into tangible benefits for its citizens, citing examples of other oil-producing nations like Ghana and Venezuela.

Omokri emphasized that Nigeria’s revenue from oil is insufficient to meet the needs of its vast population, especially when compared to countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar. He cautioned against perpetuating the misconception of Nigeria being oil-rich, which he believes fosters unrealistic expectations and a sense of entitlement among Nigerians.
