Controversy Trails Madonna University Virginity Claims
By Benjamin Abioye
Senator Shehu Sani has fueled further controversy over the assertions made by Father Edeh, founder of Madonna University about the Anambra State school’s stature in maintaining the virginity of its female students unlike many other institutions.
Sani had in a tweet urged other universities to emulate Madonna University in its avowed claims of keeping the virginity of its students.
In the tweet, Senator Sani wrote, “Father Edeh reportedly said that it’s Only in Madonna University that girls graduate as virgins. If that is true, God bless the lecturers and Students of that university. I hope other Universities will emulate.”
However, instead of garnering support or agreement, the tweet has led to a wave of skepticism and opposition. Netizens and Nigerians have raised pointed questions challenging the validity and basis of Father Edeh’s statement.
Critics have questioned the methods used to determine the virginity of graduating students and have expressed doubts about the accuracy of such claims. The lack of transparency and clarity surrounding the statement has further fueled the backlash against Father Edeh and Senator Sani’s endorsement of it.
Amidst the controversy, the focus has shifted away from praising Madonna University’s disciplinary standards to questioning the credibility of the reported statement and the implications of such assertions.
As discussions continue to unfold on social media platforms, it remains to be seen whether any clarification or response will be provided by Father Edeh or other relevant parties regarding the contentious statement. In the meantime, the backlash serves as a reminder of the need for accountability and transparency in public discourse, especially on sensitive topics like morality and institutional reputation.
See some reactions below:
@aai_austin: Have you asked him how he found out?
@ElochukwuOhagi: What are they using to determine who graduated a virgin?
@olamijuwon1007: Lol. I’d like to know the mechanisms used to determine their virginity at graduation, and what data he used to arrive at the conclusion that girls from other schools don’t graduate as virgins. 😂😂😂
@simplyweezee: I can boldly beat my chest and say it’s a lie. My cousin attended that uni in Anambra State. Although the university is well disciplined but the truth is far from what he said. I just don’t want to disclose the stories she told me that happens there
@obajemujnr: My only question is do they test them on graduation dates or how did they detect please?
@Chimacoeche: I hope other universities emulate this but is it true?
@Destinino: how can we believe what he said to be true? is their any record to that? or it’s an indirect way to sell the university to us so we can send our kids to that school
@Good_citizins: No be girls that entered as a Virgin will graduate as a virgin.
