Corps Member Shot Dead By Policeman At Post-Convocation Party
A corps member, Iyanda Damilola, was allegedly shot dead by a policeman known as Saheed SARS in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Tuesday, April 23.
Saheed, an operative of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), was identified by students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) for the action.
According to Damilola’s brother, Iyanda Oluwafemi, who graduated from LAUTECH on Monday, the deceased was shot dead at an after-party following his convocation ceremony. Oluwafemi, who sustained bullet wounds himself, said Saheed led the police team that dispersed the crowd and shot directly at people.
“I saw him handling the gun; he was shooting with one hand until he shot my brother,” Oluwafemi said. “I sustained deep wounds and am currently receiving treatment. I demand justice for my innocent brother.”
The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is ongoing. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, promised to provide updates on the case
