Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has hinted at possible internal sabotage in the recent abduction of students from Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Osara.

The governor’s statement comes after a visit to the university campus to assess the situation and review ongoing efforts to rescue the students.

According to Governor Ododo, preliminary investigations suggest that the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras installed in the school were mysteriously switched off on the day of the attack, around 9 pm on Thursday, May 9.

This revelation has raised suspicions of an inside job.

Despite the challenges, the governor commended security operatives for their swift response, which prevented the attackers from gaining access to the hostels. He assured parents and students that everything possible is being done to ensure the safe return of the abducted students.

“We have installed CCTV cameras in all classrooms and the entire perimeter of the university campus. Yet, on the day of the attack, our investigation so far revealed that all the cameras were switched off,” Governor Ododo said. “Our security agencies are working hard, and the investigation is ongoing. All our students shall return safely, and the perpetrators shall face justice.”

The governor urged parents and students to remain calm, as efforts are being made to secure the students’ release. While acknowledging that sensitive information cannot be shared publicly, he assured that the government is working tirelessly to resolve the situation.

The abduction of students from CUSTECH Osara has raised concerns about security in educational institutions, and Governor Ododo’s suspicions of sabotage highlight the need for a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind this incident.
