Japa: Nigerian Pastor Gives New Warning On Generational Consequences (Video)
Pastor Femi Emmanuel overseer at the Livingspring Chapel International has cautioned Nigerians planning to relocate abroad in search of greener pastures, popularly known as “japa”.
While acknowledging he had previously spoken extensively on the topic, he reiterated his warning, advising against relocating solely for economic reasons or to escape difficulties in Nigeria.
According to the clergyman, relocating for the right reasons, such as academic pursuits, skills acquisition, business opportunities, or divine instruction, is acceptable. However, leaving the country solely to escape hardship or to make a living would lead to regret and potentially ensnare future generations in a cycle of struggle.
Pastor Femi Emmanuel emphasized that the notion of a universally “greener” pasture is an illusion, and those who make the move for the wrong reasons will ultimately face disappointment. He encouraged his congregation to seek purpose and fulfillment in their lives, rather than relying on relocation as a solution to their problems.
In his words, “Relocating for education, training, or divine purpose is acceptable, but doing so solely to escape hardship or make a living will lead to regret and enslavement for you and your generation. The grass is not always greener on the other side.”
