Why Abia State Government Fired Embattled Principal of School of Midwifery

Published

The Abia State Government has taken swift action by dismissing the embattled former acting principal of Okezie School of Midwifery Abiriba, Mrs. Ogbonna Chituru Adiele, following a protest by students who accused her of embezzlement, misappropriation, and poor management.

The students, who staged a protest on the school premises, alleged that Mrs. Adiele had embezzled funds meant for the school’s operations, misused the Student Union Government (SUG) ECG machine for personal gain, and employed ghost workers to siphon money. They also questioned her prolonged absences, neglect of responsibilities, poor academic management, and usurpation of duties assigned to other officials.

In a petition letter signed by the SUG President, Comrade Uche Maximus Chibuikem, and General Secretary, Immaculata Anyanwu, the students urged the Abia State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, to investigate the allegations and take prompt action.

In response to the protest and petition, Dr. Okoronkwo swiftly suspended Mrs. Adiele and appointed Mrs. Okorie Comfort James as her replacement to ensure the smooth running of the school.

GWG.ng reports that the swift action taken by the Abia State Government demonstrates its commitment to addressing the concerns of students and ensuring the proper management of educational institutions in the state.
