Robbery Suspect, Bob Jay Falls Into Well, Dies After Midnight Raid On Varsity Campus

An armed robbery suspect, nicknamed Bob Jay, fell into an open well on Friday night following a raid by him and his gang on a student hostel at the Okuku Campus of the University of Cross River, Unicross.

According to Regina, a student of the school, the robbers attacked the hostel at around midnight, stealing laptops, phones, and money. During their escape, one of the robbers fell into an open well while attempting to flee with the stolen items.

“They came around midnight and robbed all the students in the Okuku hostel. They stabbed one student and broke another’s head with a stick before escaping with phones, laptops, and other valuables,” she told newsmen.

She explained that the well, used by students for fetching water for bathing and washing clothes, had no cover.

“No one knew one of the robbers had fallen into the well until dawn when students went to fetch water and discovered the dead man inside. They raised the alarm, and community members came and identified him as one of the robbers, known as Bob Jay from Mbube, a neighboring village.”

The police were alerted and arrived to take the body away the body of Bob Jay. Regina noted that no other gang members have been identified yet, as the phone found on the robber was damaged.
