Osimhen’s Next Club Still Uncertain Despite €70M Offer From Al Ahli
By Benjamin Abioye
Saudi club Al Ahli has reportedly made a €70 million bid for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. This offer may not be enough to secure the player, as Al Ahli might need to increase their bid to meet Napoli’s expectations. Additionally, the club will need to negotiate personal terms with Osimhen.
Osimhen himself admitted that the initial offer from Saudi Arabia last summer, which was around $1 million per week, was tempting.
Top Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla has suggested that Saudi Arabia is currently the most likely destination for Osimhen. He reported that the Saudis have renewed their interest in the 25-year-old striker, especially now that other potential suitors are absent as the transfer window nears its end.
In September, Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, firmly stated that “with 200 million euros, the Arabs couldn’t take a foot of Osimhen.” Earlier this year, there was speculation about Osimhen moving to Saudi Arabia, but the transfer was denied by the player’s agent, who received a strong response from Osimhen himself.
The proposed move to Chelsea was never feasible due to significant obstacles, including Osimhen’s salary demands, a €130 million release clause, and Chelsea’s preference for a loan transfer rather than a permanent deal.
With the transfer window closing at midnight on Friday, the situation remains fluid, and no outcome can be completely ruled out in this ongoing transfer saga.
