Gunmen Kill Lodger At Ogun Hotel

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old hunter named Joseph Ajegba for killing his close friend.

According to the police, Joseph shot his friend after catching him having sex with his girlfriend in the house Joseph had rented for her in Ikun-Akoko, located in the Akoko South West area of Ondo State.

Joseph was presented to the public alongside other criminal suspects at the state police headquarters in Akure, the state capital.

While speaking about the incident, Joseph explained that earlier in the day, he had brought some bush meat to his girlfriend. Later that night, he went out hunting again but had run out of cartridges. When he returned to his girlfriend’s house, hoping to spend the night there, he was shocked to find another man, who was also a hunter, having sex with her.

“I went out hunting after I had taken some bottles of beer, but I ran out of cartridges. I wanted to return to my girlfriend to sleep there. When I got there, I saw the door locked. I now went to the window and I opened it and saw a co-hunter sleeping with my girlfriend. That was why I shot the gun in my hand,” Joseph said.

The Commissioner of Police for Ondo State, Mr. Abayomi Oladipo, added more details while parading Joseph. He said, “On the 23rd of August, 2024, at about 11:00 p.m., a case of attempted murder was reported to the Police. The victim had gone to visit a friend, who is a divorcee, at her home.

Ajegba Joseph, a hunter aged 38, who was also involved with the same woman, visited her that day carrying an unlicensed single-barrel gun. Upon seeing the victim with the woman in bed, the suspect shot him through the window.”
