Nollywood Actor Adeniyi Johnson Pleads with Filling Station Owners Over Fuel Price Hikes
Nollywood star Adeniyi Johnson has made an impassioned plea to fuel station owners amid the ongoing hike in petrol prices in Nigeria.
Taking to his Instagram account, the actor urged station owners to ensure that their fuel meters are accurate, lamenting that consumers are already struggling with high prices and should not be further exploited.
In his post, Johnson wrote, “Dear filling station owners, we know it’s your time and season but at least do us a favor!!! Let your meters be correct. We can’t be buying fuel at this price, and you people are still robbing us!!”
His remarks come as celebrities and Nigerians alike express frustration over the soaring cost of fuel and the broader economic challenges facing the country. Actress Destiny Etiko also recently voiced her concerns, questioning what was happening in the country after the protests, which she believed were meant to address the economic hardship.
Similarly, actress Lizzy Gold recently pointed out the rising cost of living, claiming petrol now costs up to N1000 per litre, with food prices in the market skyrocketing. She called on President Bola Tinubu to take urgent action, emphasizing that Nigerians are looking to him for solutions.
Veteran Yoruba actor Saidi Balogun also joined in the chorus of voices raising alarm about the country’s economic state. He questioned whether Nigeria has any functioning price control or regulatory bodies and stressed the need for measures to mitigate inflation’s effects, warning that things were spiraling out of control.
Earlier in June, music mogul Paulo Okoye, also known as Paul O, lauded Nigerians for their patience in the face of adversity. He expressed amazement at how citizens continue to smile and remain resilient despite the challenges, asserting that the government has taken advantage of this endurance.
The rising fuel prices and economic difficulties continue to dominate national conversations, with celebrities using their platforms to call for accountability and solutions from the government and relevant stakeholders.
