Tithing: Suspense Over Abel Damina’s Response To Adeboye’s Apology

Damina tithing

The Christian community in Nigeria was at the weekend waiting with baited breath for one of its most controversial ministers, Dr Abel Damina to respond to the controversy stirred by the apology rendered by Pastor Enoch Adeboye on the doctrine of tithing.

GWG.ng reports that Adeboye who had in the past been quoted as affirming that tithing was a prerequisite to enter heaven recently tendered an apology saying that there was no biblical basis for his teaching. He rather said that what was required to enter heaven is holiness.

The apology on tithing by Adeboye came against the background of the earlier apology by Damina who until few years ago was one of the leading apologists of the prosperity gospel in Nigeria.

Dr Damina had following his revision had radically pursued what some saw as the true gospel with a ferocious attack on the prosperity gospel and its component on tithing.

For his radical teachings on tithing and other appendages of the prosperity gospel, Dr Abel Damina had seemingly been at odds with the  pof the Nigerian gospel ministers with some who were discipled under him even disowning him.

However, following the shaking apology of Pastor Adeboye on tithing, many in the Christian community were at the weekend paying compliments to Dr Abel Damina hailing his seeming fastidiousness to what they claimed as the truth in the gospel.

Meanwhile, Dr Damina has yet to respond to the development and many will be watching out for his sermon on Sunday for a possible encore on the issue.

Meanwhile, many were at the weekend flooding old posts of Damina to react to the development arising from the apology on tithing given by Pastor Adeboye.
