The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a commercial sex worker, identified as Joy Kelvin, for allegedly stabbing a client, simply known as Okafor, to death in the early hours of Monday, October 7, 2024.

The tragic incident occurred at Jakande Housing Estate in the Lekki area of Lagos. The state police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest, stating that Okafor was fatally stabbed around 5:32 a.m.

According to Hundeyin, the crime was reported by a friend of the deceased, who received a call informing him of the attack. “The complainant stated that one of his friends informed him that Okafor had been stabbed in his home by Joy Kelvin, a prostitute he had brought to his house the previous night,” Hundeyin said.

Efforts to save Okafor’s life proved unsuccessful, as he was rushed to the General Hospital in Marina, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Lagos police officers from the Ilasan Division swiftly responded to the report, apprehending the suspect at the crime scene. The victim’s body has been taken to the General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba, where it is being preserved for autopsy.

Hundeyin also noted that the police are working to locate the family of the deceased, while investigations continue to uncover the exact circumstances surrounding the murder.

“The investigation is ongoing, and we are committed to ensuring justice is served in this tragic case,” Hundeyin concluded.
