Tinubu Reappoints Prof Duna To Lead NBRRI

President Bola Tinubu has approved the reappointment of Prof. Samson Duna as the Director-General of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI) for a second four-year term.

Prof. Duna reappointment was made on Tuesday in Abuja through a statement by Peter Mashem, NBRRI’s Deputy Director of Information.

The reappointment was conveyed in an official letter from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume. Prof. Duna, who initially took on the role in 2020, has led the institute in advancing research and innovation within Nigeria’s building and road sectors.

Hailing from Billiri Local Government in Gombe State, Prof. Duna is an accomplished civil engineering scholar with extensive qualifications and affiliations. He is a COREN-registered engineer and a member of prominent professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Engineering Management (MNIEM) and the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (FNICE), where he holds the title of Fellow. His additional accolades include being a Fellow of both the Nigerian Association for Engineering Geology and the Environment (FNAEGE) and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE).

Prof. Duna is also an influential figure on the Council of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and serves on the Industrial/Sectorial Board of the Regional Transport Research and Education Centre in Kumasi, Ghana (TRECK).

The extension of his tenure reaffirms his ongoing commitment to elevating Nigeria’s infrastructure through innovative engineering solutions.
