Shettima Ondo APC campaign

The Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, was among the top figures of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who visited Akure on Wednesday for the final campaign rally ahead of the Ondo State governorship election. Shettima’s flight touched down at Akure Airport at around noon.

Also present at the rally were several APC governors, including Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, and Usman Ododo of Kogi State.

The gathering also saw the participation of prominent party members such as Senator Opeyemi Bamidele from Ekiti, former Edo State governor Adams Oshiomole, the Minister of Interior Bunmi Tunji Ojo, and the Minister of Youth Ayodele Olawande, among others.

The APC’s candidate for the election is Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who assumed office following the passing of Rotimi Akeredolu on December 26, 2023. Aiyedatiwa is now set to contest in the election slated for Saturday, November 16.

It was noted that Vice President Shettima planned to pay a visit to the Palace of the Deji of Akure, Oba Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo, prior to heading to the campaign event.

On the other side, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ondo State election, Agboola Ajayi, has asserted that he is the only contender addressing the pressing issues facing the people. Ajayi criticized Governor Aiyedatiwa, accusing him of hastily approving projects in an attempt to win voter support.
